Where it came from
The box owners who use Wodloop showed us their other headache a year ago: the yearly competition. Registrations in a form tool, payments by transfer to reconcile by hand, a division list in a spreadsheet, the ranking recomputed between two heats on a laptop propped against a barbell. Wodlane is that day, made into software.
It is the Lab's fourth product and the second in the same world, which is not a coincidence: a product that already runs the gym knows the athletes, the coaches and the rhythm of a weekend event. Same team, sharper problem.
What it does on day one
An organiser creates the competition, divisions, a qualifier if there is one, several days if there are, and publishes a page athletes register from, alone or as a team of up to ten. Payment is the part everybody dreaded: the captain pays for all, or each member pays their share within 48 hours with reminders, and a spot is held while they do. Promo codes, automatic partial refunds, all on the organiser's own Stripe account, with the Lab taking a fee per registration.
On the day: heats scheduled floor by floor, sequential or in parallel; six ways to score a workout (time, reps, load, calories, distance, watts); a leaderboard the crowd watches live, with three methods to compute the overall. Online qualifiers take a video link and go through the organiser's review before they count.
What comes next
The first editions are running in Lille this autumn. The next thing on the list is the organiser's monthly invoice, one document for all the fees of the month, and an athlete profile that carries results from one competition to the next.
